Pennsylvania is still under the Governor’s Stay at Home Order until May 8th. All employees and visitors to the Leaf and Yard Waste Center will need to wear a mask and maintain proper social distancing practices in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. This procedure will remain in effect until 5 days after Lehigh County is no longer under the Governor’s Stay at Home Order. The 5-day period will allow the Yard Waste Center to reset for normal operations.
The Leaf and Yard Waste Center will reopen on April 23, 2020, with expanded weekday hours. Access to the site will be by appointment only, for DROP-OFF only.
Initially, the site will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be 12 half-hour time slots daily. Each time slot will have 3 appointments. This will allow for 36 appointments each day the site is open. The site will close from 11:30 to 12:30 daily. There are 5 drop-off points for brush and 6 drop-off points for grass and leaves.
Residents should call the township at 610-282-1171 extension 1222 and leave a message with their full name, address, phone number and make, model and license plate of the vehicle they intend to use to visit the Leaf and Yard Waste Center.
A township representative will call back with an appointment time and confirmation number. Residents will need to write down the confirmation number on a piece of paper to show to the gate attendant. Persons without a confirmation number will be turned away.
A permit system is planned to be implemented beginning next year. Residents requesting appointments will also be given an opportunity to pre-register for a Leaf and Yard Waste Center Permit.
