Upper Saucon Township has contracted with Barwis Construction to construct a new walking trail along West Hopewell Road to connect the Curly Horse Development with the Hopewell Elementary School. Construction of the walking trail will necessitate the closure of West Hopewell Road near the small bridge located between Curly Horse Drive and Bowood Street. It is anticipated that West Hopewell Road will be closed from August 12 to August 17 while the small bridge is extended to accommodate the new walking trail. Please keep in mind the road closure could last longer than anticipated due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather and equipment breakdowns. During the closure, all traffic will be forced to follow posted detour routes utilizing Chestnut Hill Road, Applebutter Hill Road, Spring Drive and Bowood Street. A plan showing the detour routes is available on the Township website at West Hopewell Road detour.
Motorists should anticipate delays, especially during peak travel times, and use caution driving through the area.
