Notice is hereby given that the regular public meeting of the Zoning Hearing Board (ZHB) of Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, is scheduled at the Municipal Building located at 5500 Camp Meeting Road, Center Valley, PA on Monday June 5, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. for the purpose of hearing the following appeal:

APPEAL NO. 2023-06: – Good Shephard Rehabilitation – (Owner/Applicant), 850 S. 5th Street Allentown, PA 18103. The property, identified as Tax Map Parcel No. 641594077314 1, also known as 3200 Center Valley Parkway, Center Valley, PA 18034, is 45.29 acres in size and located in the Enterprise (E) Zone. The applicant requests a variance to permit placement of 3 parallel wall signs having a total of 300 sq. ft. where Section 322.D (Table 4) permits 1 parallel wall sign with a total maximum area of 100 sq. ft. for all signs. Applicant asserts that Sign B.01 constitutes interior signage and requests a variance from Section 322.D (Table 4) to permit a 62 sq. ft. sign where a maximum of 4 sq. ft. is permitted. The applicant appeals the determination of the Zoning Officer that Sign B.01 be located at the Recovery Drive frontage of the property.
The applicant requests a variance from Section 322.D (Table 4) to permit 5 on-site directional signs with a sign area of 9 sq. ft. each where a sign area of 4 sq. ft. is permitted for each sign and the applicant appeals the determination of the Zoning Officer that the on-site directional signs identified as 114” high (9.5’) are permitted as “projected” signs.

NOTICE OF ROAD WORK – WEST ROCK ROAD (Route 145 to Lanze Lane)

During the week of May 22th from approximately 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM West Rock Road is scheduled to receive a preventative maintenance treatment called Ultra­ Thin Bonded Wearing Course. This process is a high-performance thin paving system which will both seal the street as well as providing a new road surface.

During this week there will be one day when the milling of paving notches will occur to prepare for the overlay. The Overlay will only take one day to complete during this week, weather permitting.

In order to provide for a safe working environment for our crews and for the traveling public (due to the volume of traffic coming off the 1-78 ramp and from Route 145) the road will be closed to traffic entering onto West Rock Road from Route 145. You will be permitted at all times to exit West Rock Road heading toward Route 145. You will also be permitted at all times to enter onto West Rock Road from the 1-78 Eastbound Ramp.

Hydrant Flushing Notice – 04/14/2023

The Upper Saucon Township Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants between the hours of 5:00 AM and 2:30 PM beginning May 1, 2023, and continuing to May 14, 2023.

Flushing may cause some discoloration of water. This does not represent a health hazard. If you do experience discoloration in your, please don’t be alarmed, your water will clear up once it is run for a short time.  Should you experience discolored water, we suggest you run the cold water from the faucet nearest to the water meter to flush your house line.   

The flushing program is necessary to maintain a good water supply for both firefighting and domestic consumption.

Upper Saucon Real Estate Tax Bills

Real Estate Tax Bills have been mailed out to all property owners in Upper Saucon Township. Property owners who did not receive a bill should contact the Upper Saucon Township Tax Collector at 610-797-2282.

Residents whose taxes are paid by a mortgage company or bank should forward their bills to that institution as soon as possible.

Payment in the form of a check or money order will be accepted by mailing the bill along with your check/money order to:

Saucon Rail Trail Closure

The Saucon Rail Trail will be closed between Station Avenue and Flint Hill Road from approximately 8am to 3pm from Monday, March 27, 2023 for trail surface repairs.
Township crews will be using heavy equipment on and around the trail. Please avoid the area

APPEAL NO. 2023-01: – Thomas P. Williams Sr. (Owner/Applicant), 822 Hamilton Street – Suite 301, Allentown, PA 18101. The property, identified as Tax Map Parcel No. 642481757909 -1 also known as 7201 Suter Road, Coopersburg, PA 18036, is 5.43 acres in size and located in the Suburban Residential (R-2) Zone. The applicant seeks a variance from Section 212.H (as amended by Ordinance 141-K) to create a new building lot with 150’ of lot width at Building Setback where a minimum lot width of 200’ is required at Building Setback.

TRAFFIC SIGNAL WORK / ROAD CLOSURES – TUESDAY, MARCH 7, 2023

Traffic signal repair work will be taking place at the intersection of W Saucon Valley Rd / State Route 309 / Center Valley Parkway on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Work is expected to begin at approximately 8:00 am and will continue to approximately 3:00pm. Please plan an alternate route. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone for the duration of the project. Local access to homes and access by emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times

Route 309 North and South will remain open 

W Saucon Valley Road will be closed between Lanark and Route 309

Route 309 Southbound Ramp to W Saucon Valley Road will be closed

W Saucon Valley Road traffic will not be able to cross Route 309 to Center Valley Parkway

Center Valley Parkway will not be able to cross Route 309 to W Saucon Valley Rd

All work areas will be marked by barricades and road closed signage. Please follow designated routes and signage
